Cocaine Shrimp Cocktails

While it isn’t surprising that eating a poppy seed bagel can potentially result in a positive drug test, this recent article (Scientists discover cocaine in every shrimp tested from English rivers, study says) revealing that researchers found cocaine in every single shrimp tested was a bit unsettling.

The study found that the concentrations of cocaine were low and the scientists were looking at the impact this would have on wildlife and the environment but I see this idea as a springboard for potential storylines.

What if a drug dealer opened up a high-end seafood restaurant to launder money and served cocaine-laced shrimp cocktails.

Or

What if a straight-A student with plans to attend Harvard fails her/his random drug test at school. Only to find out that it was caused by all the fried shrimp she/he eats.

Who wants to talk more about how you can use this in your current or next story?
