It was Miss Scarlet in the Theater with an EGOT!

This recent article (The Major Awards Ranked By How Good They Would Be as Murder Weapons) ranking how lethal these major awards would be if they were used as a murder weapon reminded me of playing the board game Clue and made me wonder, has anyone ever been killed by their Oscar?

The idea would be perfect for a murder mystery. After winning the award that she or he has worked a lifetime for, the award winner is found dead the morning after. There could be a laundry list of suspects who would have motive. The unhappy husband, wife, mistress, manager, agent, friend, fellow actor or actress (maybe they were also nominated). The possible entanglements could go on and on.

Then there is the whole investigation of the murder. How do you dispose of a murder weapon that is so well-known and it’s value in some cases could be priceless to a collector?

Maybe it’s a Hollywood memorabilia collector whose appetite for completing her or his collection took a dark turn?

I did some additional research and couldn’t find a news article where someone was killed by their award (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar or Tony). So, one interesting note is that this has never happened in real life, so you can write the story.

Who wants to talk more about how you can use this idea in your current or next story?
